David Maiocco began his piano studies in Fairfied, CT with Burton Hatheway and played for several Trumbul Youth Association musicals, making his debut as a Music Director at age 16 with TYA's production of Snoopy in Trumbul ,CT
David continued his training under Alfred E. Lee and Jung Ja Kim at the Boston Conservatory from where he holds a Bachelor of Music degree. As a conservatory piano major, David music directed Kurt Weil and Bertolt Brecht's "The Happy End", Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music" and "Sunday in the Park with George", Stephen Schwartz's "The Baker's Wife", and the entire "Falsetto's" trilogy- "In Trousers", "March of the Falsettos" and "Falsettoland" by William Finn. He also studied under Gabriel Chodos at the 1989 Aspen Musical Festival.


David was invited by Tony Award Winning Director, Scott Schwartz to serve as music director for "Magic to Do, A Stephen Schwartz musical Review" in Haverford, PA  and soon after was appointed Music Director for Howard Crabtree's "Whoop-Dee-Doo!" at the Triangle Community Center in Norwalk, CT where he had the opportunity to work with Tommy Femia for the first time.  
For  the next 14 years he played the role of Mort Lindsay and served as Music Director for "Judy Garland Live!"starring Tommy Femia. "Judy Garland Live!" played in dozens of cities including New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC, Sarasota,  and London, England. Mr. Maiocco also served as Orchestrator, Conductor and Music Director for the Off-Broadway show, "I Will Come Back" by Timothy Gray and Hugh Martin at NYC's Player's Theatre.


David started the decade earning his first Backstage Magazine Bistro Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Direction. He developed his identity as as Music Director for the "most iconic legends of all times" or as Cabaret legend Sidney Myer once said "...or reasonable facsimilies". David served as Music Director for  Bistro and MAC award winning performers in NYC's most renowned Cabaret rooms. Among performers that David worked with are Chuck Sweeney as Miss Peggy Lee, James Beaman as Marlene Dietrich and Lauren Bacall, Steven Brinberg as Barbra Streisand and Richard Skipper as Carol Channing.  Earning the 2002 MAC Award for Best Musical Director, David became an International Cabaret Music Director touring some of these acts as far away as Munich, and Berlin, Germany. He has had the pleasure of playing for many artists in cabaret appearances and guest spot including; Ben Vereen, John Barrowman, Karen Mason, Pamela Myers, Jana Robbins, Christine Pedi, Sidney Myer, among others.

After a brief hiatus from the stage, David was married to his husband Chris in Fairfield, CT. After settling in to married life and a teenage stepson, David joined forces with his former collegue and friend, Chuck Sweeney. The duo revived Miss Peggy Lee and added the wonderful virtuosity of Liberace. Lee Squared was "born" on April 30, 2016 at the historic Bijou theatre in Bridgeport, CT and has recently finished an engagement at NYC's Metropolitan Room. Winning the 2017 Bistro Award for Best musical Comedy Duo, David continues to not only play for some of the "most iconic legends of all time", but is one himself...or a reasonable facsimilie thereof.
